Statement:
The sculpture collection reflects my perception of the short story The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. The story explores the life of Gregor, whose family is neglectful and leads Gregor to deal with issues of loneliness and depression. With this work, I decided to capture the very human feelings that Gregor has, despite him not being human--this is why I presented him as a human figure. I decided to include a spotlight that illuminates everything surrounding Gregor, but he radiates darkness that consumes his body despite outside factors.
